Om Al-Qura school is a community based organization that runs under Ottawa Muslim Association (OMA). The school provides an academic environment for elementary school level to learn Arabic and Islamic Studies. The school offers Islamic Studies (Quran) program under the OMA and the Arabic class under the Conseil des écoles catholiques, International Language Program (ILP).
PROGRAMS
Age Group:
For children born between 2009 and 2018 inclusive
Students must be registered in Junior Kindergarten up to Grade 8 in September 2022
Classes:
Saturdays Starting September 10th, 2022, until June 17th, 2023
Location & Schedule:
35 Melrose Avenue
Saturdays: 1:00pm – 3:30pm
Islamic Studies sessions are run by Om Al-Qura School under the Ottawa Muslim Association (OMA) for $160/student per school year
Eligibility:

Islamic Studies run from 3:30 – 5:00 pm. Starting September 10th, 2022, until June 17th, 2023

Monday to Friday (weekends off)
Starting July 5 until July 30
Afternoon: 1:00-3:30 (Synchronized ~ 1:00-2:15)
1. Google Meet “contact time” between instructor and the class (live video classroom)
2. Oral communication; language-rich activities; Arabic phonetics, writing
3. Thematic games (Kahoot!), storytelling, projects, worksheets
4. Additional activities via Google Classroom, emailed or posted challenges
5. Small assignments that are not too demanding during the summer
Note: Arabic sessions are run by the ILP Permanent Education. Arabic hours are free of religious content at a cost of $150 for Quebec students and $10 for Ontario students.
Quran and Islamic Studies
For ages 4years to 18 years Old (used to be 4-13 years)
Tuesdays & Thursdays (3pm to 4:15pm)
Starting July 5 until July 30
1. Google Meet (live video classroom)
2. Quran recitation & tajweed, Nooraniya
3. Name of Allah & Athkar
4. Islamic lessons (pillars of Islam & Iman; teachings of the prophet; virtual Hajj session)
5. Prophet stories & games (Kahoot!)
Note: Islamic Studies sessions are run by Om Al-Qura School under the Ottawa Muslim Association (OMA) for $60/student.
